Centennial Show Draws Big Crowd For Pan Am Centenary

The Roblin Collegiate Auditorium overflowed with locals and visitors as Mickey and Bunny performed with Winni pegs and Steve Juba. Mayor Juba gave greetings from Winnipeg and presented honors to Pan Am organizers. Door prizes, canned goods, and cookies circulated while Masons handled parking and Knights of Columbus oversaw proceeds. A future Centennial Dance is planned for April 21 with Yorkton's Art Gellet supplying music.

Voter Turnout Sets 47 Percent in Intermountain Division Board Election

Election day was moved to April 4 after a storm delayed the vote. In the Intermountain School Division 2975 of 6255 electors cast ballots, electing Ward representatives including Ward 2 Jack W Bailey and Ward 3 Charles Filewich, with results detailed by ward and candidate tallies.

4H Leadership Week and Bonspiel Highlights

Four H Leaders report Easter activities with eleven senior members at Dauphin and Winnipeg training, plus a Robin bonspiel. Elaine Robertson and Jack Lenderbeck attended Leadership Week in Winnipeg. Nine club members joined the Youth Leadership Conference in Dauphin with Dr Jack Nesbitt guiding discussions on decision making and occupation choice. Local officials spoke on citizenship and human behaviour, while stormy weather dampened attendance at the closing banquet. Twenty seven rinks competed in the 4 H Bonspiel with results led by Terry Watson Vern Furtney Doug Cockerill and Dianne Burla in first event and Florette Simair Peggy Barker Leslie Doole Gloria Boughton in second.

Maureen Spear left Yorkton last Thursday to represent Nicaragua at the Model United Nations Assembly in Winnipeg. Rotary Club Yorkton selected her to represent Yorkton and district, with club sponsorship and a banquet and formal dance held last Saturday night. Students from the Northern United States Western Ontario Manitoba and Saskatchewan will attend the session. One topic is whether Communist China should be admitted to the United Nations.

Regular Practices For Musical Group Suspended

Spring outdoor activities lead to suspension of regular practices for the Roblin Musical Group. The interfaith service marked the season's climax, with track and field and gardening as upcoming activities. The group plans to resume after spring.

Tummel 4-H Garden Club Reorganizes With New Officers

The Tummel 4 H Garden Club held its reorganization meeting on March 29 with seven members. New officers are President Lois Arndt Vice President Linda Zimmer Secretary Treasurer Leona Kurchak Reporter Lindy Kurchak. Leader is Mrs Robert Zimmer with junior leader Rodney McFadyen. Kinsmen Club Roblin Begins Second Bingo

The Kinsmen Club of Roblin starts a second bingo today with the first twenty numbers on page 6. New cards are available at Macleods, Marshall Wells, Mitchells Drug Store, Ivanhoe Restaurant, Roblin Credit Union, Roblin Co-op Store, and E Carriere’s Store in San Clara. Proceeds support the Kinsmen Wading Pool and Park Project.

Obituary Frank Clyde Schurman

Frank Clyde Schurman a Calgary resident for 65 years and World War II veteran died at Colonel Belcher hospital near Collingwood Corner N. He served in the 16th Regiment Calgary from 1915 to 1918 and in 1940 to 1945 with ROASC Motor Transport. Survived by wife Mary Agnes two daughters Ila Sulter Boston MA and Lorraine Dorsey Penticton BC three grandchildren one brother Keith Schurman Montreal and one sister Eselle Schurman Montreal. Funeral service held Tuesday March 28 1987 at Memorial Chapel with interment in Burnsland Cemetery Field of Honor.
