J F Palamarchuk spoke at a Farmers Union meeting on April 4 urging producer controlled marketing boards for all farm produce. He noted farmers must expand co operatives and participate in running their own business to survive after praising grain pool success and calling for action nationwide.
The Rural Municipality of Hullsburg met April 4 1962 with Reeve John Eval and all councillors present. By-Law 371 setting a 50 mill rate for municipal purposes and 10 mill business tax plus school rate was passed and approved. They approved 1962 Union membership of 50 and grants to Red Cross Salvation Army and Roblin Agricultural Society of 25 each. Civil Defence contacts were named John Perchaluk Jr Charles Filewich and Alec E Mohr. They authorized payment of Merridale bridge share 7145.18 and approved accounts 337 to 380 totaling 6934.87.
The Easter Seal Campaign reports receipts totaling 550 dollars, half of the 1000 dollar objective, with two weeks remaining. Lorne H. Smith, Easter Seal Chairman of the Kinsmen Club of Gilbert Plains, notes hopeful momentum and continued efforts to reach the goal.
The District IV Manitoba Association of Registered Nurses held its second annual meeting in the Dauphin Health Unit on March 20 with delegates from Swan River Dauphin Gilbert Plains Grandview and Roblin. Past officers were reelected. Mrs Vi Miller reported on nursing service and education. Dr Richard Parker Brandon Hospital for Mental Diseases spoke on psychiatry in General Hospitals.
Yorkton Saskatchewan reports John Miller 66 of MacNutt is charged with capital murder in the Friday shooting death of his 62 year old wife Catharine. Miller appeared in court Saturday and was remanded to April 27 for a preliminary hearing. Police say she died from two gunshot wounds and Miller remains in custody.
Roblin Hospital Aid held its regular meeting on Tuesday April 8 at 2 30 pm in the board room with Mrs M Bowley presiding. Minutes from March were approved. Carnival net proceeds totaled 400 35 with lunch served at the Regional Hospital Board meeting in the Masonic Hall. A regional aid meeting is set for May 18 in Dauphin. Proceeds from Gloria Hilderman Queen Contest were shared among six area auxiliaries. A May tea and bazaar was planned. Thirteen members attended. The meeting closed with the Hospital Ard Prayer.
The Roblin and District Chamber of Commerce highlights citizen representation and voluntary work to improve Roblin. It cites beautification efforts, agricultural awards, Home & School support, Christmas decorations, a water works project, and urges ongoing member turnout at final Tuesday meetings.
Mrs Wm Hampson and family visit The Past Man with Mr and Mrs Herb Craven. Mr Darcy Jones dies Tuesday April 10 in KamSack Union Hospital. Jones born Omemee Ontario August 2 1871. Norman Lee heads to Winnipeg then Oshawa for 10 day visit. Lawrence Nabe leaves for Outlook Saskatchewan. Mrs Harry Maksymetz and infant return home from KamSack Hospital. Fred Erhardt and Richie of Outlook Sask spend weekend at home. Robert McKee and Mrs Wm Hampson motor to Roblin Thursday.

Mr Harvey Switzer of Winnipeg spent the week end with his parents Mr and Mrs Raymond Switzer. Mr and Mrs Wellington Dodge and girls of Birtle Man were visiting with Cst and Mrs Peter Juba on Sunday. Mr and Mrs R Wark of White Fox Sask visited with the Backmans this past week end. Mr T Pringle returned home last week after spending the winter in Roblin. Mr and Mrs George Schmaltz and baby Nelda are in Winnipeg this week. His question at the moment is When will the snow leave us.
The Department of Health offers free oral polio vaccine for everyone six months and older. Children will receive it at school while clinics for others run across several dates in May with times listed for St Roblin, Robin, Wakaroff, and Clara locales.
