Roblin Opens 1989 Budget With Tax Increases and Grants

Roblin town council approved the first reading of the 1989 budget raising residential taxes by 10.9 mills and commercial by 14 mills. School taxes rise 3.5 mills residential and 7.5 mills commercial. Bailes named to Municipal Board in Manitoba

Roblin man Mark Bailes is appointed to the Manitoba Municipal Board by Minister Glenn Cummings. The six new appointees were listed in a March 29 release. Bailes has chaired local boards and leads the Roblin Fat Stock Show and Sale committee. Term runs to December 1089.

Manitoba Ambulance Funding Boost Aims to Equalize System

Health Minister Donald Orchard announced a 3.8 million three year funding increase for Manitoba ambulance services the largest since 1975 plus a new funding formula to reduce rural bills. The plan raises per capita subsidies to about seven dollars and targets base funding call volume vehicles training and long distance factors.
