September Tire Quota Reduced Over Twenty Percent
War Price and Rationing Board officials said September’s passenger car tire quota is cut by more than 20 percent. Only the top eligibles will receive tires, with priority to doctors nurses police and war workers. Many B and C ration holders misread eligible as available, causing a surge of applications. Local boards will still deny tires to many technically eligible motorists until the overall supply improves.
