Roanoke Rapids Rosemary defeated Aulander 4 to 2 on the local diamond in a fast game. Brown pitched steadily until the eighth when Aulander scored twice on two base hits and a single. Speed excelled at short and Wrenn and Kearney led Roanoke Rapids with timely hits including two doubles by Kearney and three by Wrenn. Five Roanoke hits, four for extra bases, with defensive lapses by Castello and weak support for Brown.

Sparks Circus Comes to Weldon with Two Daily Shows
The Sparks Big Three Ring Circus will exhibit in Weldon on Tuesday September 14 with two performances at 2 and 8 PM. The open cage pageant begins with a two mile parade, featuring tango and shimmy horses, sculptor-inspired horse acts, elephant herds led by lady trainers, and the European Acrobats the Cornalls making their first U S tour.
