Roanoke Rapids defeats Aulander in lively district baseball

Roanoke Rapids Rosemary defeated Aulander 4 to 2 on the local diamond in a fast game. Brown pitched steadily until the eighth when Aulander scored twice on two base hits and a single. Speed excelled at short and Wrenn and Kearney led Roanoke Rapids with timely hits including two doubles by Kearney and three by Wrenn. Five Roanoke hits, four for extra bases, with defensive lapses by Castello and weak support for Brown.

Clean Up Day in Halifax County Schools

Halifax County calls all residents to join a cleanup effort for country schools. Citizens are urged to meet teachers at the school on September 11 to prepare for the new term, clean buildings, yards, and sanitation, and show community pride through a day of hard work.

Rosemary Local and City Schools Open September 131

Numerous visitors and residents called in Rosemary and Warren ton with many movers in town. A large turnout attended All Saints Episcopal barbecue. Public school staff and teachers listed for 1920 21 including principals Miss Powell and Miss Hearne and many subject teachers. Night school planned in Roanoke Rapids and Rosemary with several instructors named.

Justis Alexander Marriage Ties Rosemary and Richmond

Miss Angelyn Alexander of Rosemary married Dr. Linwood Hanrock Justis of Rosemary now Littleton. Ceremony held Friday night at the bride’s brother M. Alexander's home in Richmond officiated by Rev. E. C. Pedrick. The couple plan a North Carolina mountain honeymoon and will reside in Littleton after September 15.

In last week's Herald an advertisement bearing the Rosemary Banking and Trust Company signature inferred it was a National Bank. The error, charged to the proof reader, is corrected with apologies. The Rosemary bank officers disavow responsibility for the misprint.

Sparks Circus Comes to Weldon with Two Daily Shows

The Sparks Big Three Ring Circus will exhibit in Weldon on Tuesday September 14 with two performances at 2 and 8 PM. The open cage pageant begins with a two mile parade, featuring tango and shimmy horses, sculptor-inspired horse acts, elephant herds led by lady trainers, and the European Acrobats the Cornalls making their first U S tour. Patrons may visit the Menagerie and Horse Fair one hour before the regular show.
