At a Report Meeting of the Campaign Workers for the Community Chest Drive the group votes to extend the 1940 fund campaign through Monday and Tuesday with additional report meetings set for Friday and Monday. The current total is 8149 33 and a remaining target of 5055 67. The extension aims to give all potential givers a chance to pledge as only about half have been approached.

Halifax Safety Meet Promotes Countywide Safety Program
A mass meeting at Halifax Grammar School 7 30 p m Wednesday December 6 will close a three day safety program across 63 Halifax County schools. Ronald Hocutt director of the North Carolina Highway Safety Division will speak along with county officials and law enforcement. The program includes three E s of Safety education enforcement and engineering with music and a school play. All residents including bus drivers teachers and delivery workers are invited to attend. A county wide tour by Hocutt and staff will continue next week with plans to form safety councils in other towns.
