In Halifax Recorder's Court Kirkland waived a prelim and was bound over to Halifax County Superior Court for trial on manslaughter in the death of Blanche Walston an 11 year old Scotland Neck girl injured by a car while boarding a school bus at her father s service station near Tarboro one man posted 4000 bond and was released while William Jones could not raise 8000 bond and remained jailed Probable cause found against Jones and he was bound over to Superior Court for trial

Seaboard Merchant Injured in Dirt Road Collision
Manhur t W Paul Edwards age 42 a Seaboard merchant was injured this afternoon when his car met a truck on a dirt road causing a sideswipe. He was brought to the local hospital around 2 PM with internal injuries and broken bones but his condition is not believed critical.

Roanoke Rapids Enforces 2.5Hour Parking Rule Citywide
Chief H E Dobbins warns motorists that the new ordinance restricting parking to two and a half hours on Roanoke Avenue Ninth to Eleventh, Fenth Street Hamilton to Madison, and Elevnth Hamilton to Jackson will be enforced 8 am to 6 pm with Sunday exception. Violators face $10 fines per offense and conspicuous signs mark the zones. The chief stresses the law applies to all residents and violators will receive tickets.

Red Cross Chapter Elects Officers for New Year
At a meeting in the First Baptist Church basement local American Red Cross officers were elected for the coming year. Rev. Gordon Price re-elected as general chairman, L. S. Neal named Roll Call chairman, Rev. Lawrence Stell re-elected vice-chairman, and Robert Vaughan chosen secretary-treasurer. Roll Call starts next Monday morning.
