County Board to Decide On Special Liquor Control Election
A special meeting of the Halifax County Board of Commissioners will be held in the coming days to decide if and when to call a special election on the liquor control act for the county. Board chairman J. Waldo Whittaker cited the lack of a printed copy of the new act and will convene the session after county attorney George Green’s guidance. Roanoke Rapids residents have urged swift action on the liquor issue. The scene includes local Scouts from East Carolina Council with Seashore Camping exhibits and praise from Chief Scout James E. West at the Chapel Hill State Jamboree.
