Roanoke Rapids High School entered ten events in the High School Music Contest held at Aycock Auditorium Greensboro ending April 28. Over 3,000 spectators watched awards as 87 schools competed. At the April 22 district contest here Roanoke Rapids entered eleven events and won nine first places.

Halifax Law Cuts Board Nominees To Three
A joint session of the Legislature reduced Halifax County nominees for the Greater University Board of Trustees from five to three. The elected members are Annie Cherry of Roanoke Rapids George Crens of Weldon and W D Fauette now in Wilmington serving until 1941. Rejected were B B Everett of Scotland Neck and W L Long of Roanoke Rapids. Substitutions followed for two seats with Pete Murphy moving to replace Long and J D Grimes of Beaufort replacing B B Everett. Packed galleries watched the vote with interest.
