Horton talks peanut industry in Halifax speech
Lieutenant Governor Wilkins P. Horton of Pittsboro spoke at the Halifax County Courthouse Monday on peanut industry measures. He cited the Peanut Stabilization Cooperative of 1937 for buying surplus peanuts and selling to oil mills to prevent market glut. He noted U S acreage and price shifts from 1932 to 1939 and compared North Carolina and Georgia acreage increases since 1936.
