Guard Unit Formation Is Complete

Local unit of the 105th Medical Regiment received federal recognition process status and completed its first drill. Colonel H. R. Melton observed a Saturday inspection. 64 personnel on roster with 66 expected. Dr. T. J. Taylor commands, Dr. B. E. Stephenson as assistant. Regular drills set for Mondays at 7 30 PM in the high school gym.

Voters to register in Halifax County April 27 to May 1

Halifax County schedules voter registration from April 27 through May 1. Registrars at 16 precincts will cover Saturday sessions 9 a.m. to sunset with extra weekday book access for those unable to attend. Two registration books used for party primaries plus a general election book. Changes include Roanoke Rapids precinct No 3 registrar swap from Lee Wheeden to W B Brown.
