Community play trip to Hollister staged with gusto
March 4 afternoon crowds packed the Hollister trip for the school play Better than Gold. Messrs Marvin Harris and Joé Lucas led prominent roles as 13 dramatis personae formed the conveyance committee. The visit included lunch with teachers pupils and patrons and a prayer service led by Rev N M Wright. Miss Washburn and Dr Carter visited the school with hygiene and cooking lessons. Fiddlers Convention set for March 26 at Aurelian Springs School with prizes for guitar banjo violin admission 10 and 25 cents and ice cream on sale.

A Farmer That Lives At Home Mr. W. L. D. Ivey
South Rosemary resident Mr. W L D Ivey described as a real farmer who lives at home and raises his own meat and bread. On two acres last year he produced wheat for flour and feed for his three teams and earned about two hundred dollars from meat sales. A new defendant, K. Gay, faces forgery charges in the Citizens Bank and Trust Co case. O. T. Hutton was arraigned last week for forging C. O. Keeter’s name on a $50 check, claiming innocence and that his endorsement aided Gay posing as C. C. Keeter. Justice Dickens set Hutton’s bond at $500. Gay fled but was later located in Raleigh and brought to trial. Gay’s bond was set at $1500. Hutton’s bond increased to $1500.
