Scouts Rally For Scrap Paper Drive Across City
On Sunday scouts from Troops 141 142 145 and 144 will conduct the drive. Other city troops are not asked to participate but the leading troops will collect all scrap paper. The next drive is planned for August by other city troops.
Recruits Sought for NC State Guard Company
The 14th Company of the North Carolina State Guard seeks six new members aged 18 to 45 with 17-year-olds needing parental consent. Interested applicants should contact Captain Francis S. Kemp at the Armory on Monday July 2 at 7 30 p m.

OPA Director Theodore S. Johnson urges Eastern North Carolina fuel oil users to apply for their winter supply now. He says fill the first tank on coupon receipt to avoid cold homes this fall and ease transportation strain. Johnson notes bulk storage is at capacity for fighting gasoline and heavy storage may be unavailable.
