Miss Gertrude Thomas and Mr Curtis Shell were quietly married last Tuesday at eight o'clock at the Baptist parsonage in Weldon with Rev Blalock officiating. The bride, daughter of Mr and Mrs Jerry Thomas of Patterson Mills, is popular in the community. The groom is secretary of the L G Shell Company and known locally. They visited Brunswick county Virginia and Richmond before returning to Rosemary to reside.

Auto Accident Near Rosemary Ends Narrowly Fatal
A car driven by Stars Keeter of Weldon with private Z V Johnson of Company K, Weldon, turned turtle near Rosemary last Saturday night on a return trip from Panacea Springs. Keeter claimed a rear collision caused the wreck, but evidence did not support this. The vehicle, stuck in a mudhole, pinned both men. They were rescued by an Emporia car and brought to Roanoke Rapids Hospital. Johnson faced serious initial complications but recovered and returned to Weldon.

The Second Officers Training Camp runs August 27 to November 27 1917 at Fort Oglethorpe Georgia. 874 North Carolina men will be recruited paid 100 dollars monthly with government furnished uniforms and transport. Applicants aged 20 years 9 months to 44 may apply with preference to those over 31 to fill ranks of officers. training includes oath for three months and acceptance of any offered commission.
