Two Brothers Die In Bicycle Tragedy Near Roanoke Rapids
After another highway fatality the week ends with two youths aged 14 and 10 dying when struck by a car on Highway 158 near their Weldon Roanoke Rapids home. Driver David Haynie, 21, was cleared by an Enfield coroner inquest, deemed the crash unavoidable.

Dallas Rook Killed When Truck Upsets in Dallas
A coroner's inquest found Dallas Rook 20 of Garysburg died when a pickup overturned at 14th and Washington Streets about 11 30 p.m. Monday. Walter Rook, cousin and alleged driver, was jailed on drunken driving charges after leaving the scene. The third man, David Conwell, was held as a material witness for drunkenness.

Brown Man Captured After City Wide Hunt
A posse of about twenty five local and county officers and guards tracked John Brown Jr. for hours in Greenville area. He was found hiding in Mr Barrows house behind the high school and arrested without trouble. He is being turned over to State authorities.
