Ministerial Union Appeals for Heavy Clothing for Armenia and Syria

The Ministerial Union launches a drive to gather heavy clothing for destitute Armenians and Syrians. Donations of coats sweaters blankets wool shirts heavy gloves and tied shoes are requested. lighter fabrics and underwear are not needed. Items may be dropped at the Peoples Theatre lobby, Herald Publishing Company Roanoke Office, or Rosemary Drug Company, with donations urged by Monday.

Marion Saunders Wins Essay Prize at Roanoke Rapids High

Marion Saunders won a ten dollar prize for her essay on Thott Williams Mason. The award was given by Mrs. F. Payne for the best senior class essay during the year. The full essay will be printed in next week’s issue.

Graduating Class Guesta of Honor Held At Stainback Home

A joint entertainment for the class of 1921 was hosted Monday evening at the home of Mr and Mrs J J Stainback with Mrs J M Grizvard and Mrs Stainback. The house was decorated in reds and white sweet peas field daisies and fern the class colors. Dancing continued late and brick ice cream in the class colors was served each plate bore a tiny diploma as a favor.

Airplane Lands Near Roanoke Rapids After Stump Crash

Carolina Lodge No 2251 0 C F held a regular meeting Monday night May 30 1921 conferring the second degree on one candidate. The candidate praised the work and two applications were referred to committees. Applications were obtained from Wilson Encampment No 40 and several blanks were distributed for higher IC of O F degrees. Initiation set for June 28 with calls for members to apply for higher degrees.
