High Water Forces Mills to Halt Operations on Roanoke River

Heavy rains raised the Roanoke River to its highest level since 1912. By Monday morning the mills on the river could not operate and water rose further until Wednesday. Lower grounds flooded and traffic to the Halifax Paper Corporation mills was blocked. Water began to fall at noon Wednesday and continued receding.
