A six member coroner's jury ruled the death of Tiane R. Cobb accidental after an inquest into the July highway crash near Halifax. Funeral services were held in Elm City with burial in the family cemetery. survivors include Cobb's wife Rose Leo Roberson Cobb, a son, and two sisters.
Lefty Downing, 10, of Roanoke Rapids, was arrested Tuesday near Broadmax Va on charges of stealing four hogs from his father Roger H. Downing. He waived extradition and posted $1000 bond. Police said he admitted taking the hogs and selling them to BB Bowman for $900.
Firemen were called noon Friday to a Gaston Garysburg road beauty parlor where a storage battery used for electricity short circuited. There was no fire but occupants removed furniture and notified the department. The text also discusses shelter for a bull and sow feeding guidance.
