Mr Junius R Wrenn of Roanoke Rapids and Miss Annie M Squires of Near Vulture Northampton County were married Friday at four in All Saints Episcopal Church with Rev Lewis N Taylor officiating. They will live with Mr and Mrs E B Glover for now. Mr Wrenn works for Virginia Carolina Furniture Co.

Evangelist McLendon to Lead Rosemary Campaign Tent Set for 4000

Evangelist B F McLendon known as Cyclone Mack will launch an evangelistic campaign in Rosemary with a 4000 seat tent on Roanoke Avenue and 10th Street. The opening service is Sunday at 4 PM led by Mrs C L Steidler with 8 PM services. McLendon arrives Monday the 12th to take charge, aided by Mrs Steidler Prof Canell and others. The aim is a union meeting across Rosemary Roanoke Rapids and nearby communities, inviting pastors to cooperate and form a choir of several hundred for daily four and eight o clock services.

Miss Hockaday Entertains Methodist Choir Friends

Miss Alice Hockaday hosted the Methodist Choir and guests on Tuesday evening from 8 30 to 10 30. Miss Hockaday sang beautiful songs with Miss Julia Thompson at the piano. Thompson won a candy prize in a musical contest. Refreshments of sandwiches and ice tea were served by Hockaday Leatherwood and Rivers Jones. Attendees included Mrs J M Jackson and Mrs L Powell plus several others and their daughters.

Free Bridge By September 1 1920

Halifax and Northampton counties plus Roanoke Rapids vote to buy the Roanoke Rapids bridge. Halifax pays 20000, Northampton 10000, Roanoke Rapids 5000 with Roanoke Mills Co. donating the town amount. Bridge to be turned over between August 1 and September 1. Halifax also allocates 2000 to match state funds for restoring the Constitution House. representatives Mrs Job Taylor and Mrs Travis advocated.

Mr Sam Powell spent Sunday in Norfolk. Nathan Etheridge of Hobgood and his wife visited Powelltown with Lucile Ivey Emma White Marvin Knight and Merion Ivey of Rocky Mount hosting Helen Powell Sunday. The Turner family visited Mrs Tom Johnsons mother. Ada Gray and daughter Macy left for Littleton. G R Shearin and family drove to Littleton with Mary Medlin Nellie Williams. Robert Medlin of Durham visited relatives. Moody arrived from Norfolk Hospital. Edward Medlin spent Sunday in Petersburg with his wife. Eugene Ethridge spent Sunday here with relatives.

Combined bands render delightful concert

The Rosemary and Noke Rapids bands performed last Sunday afternoon in summer uniforms. The event drew hundreds from the community and nearby towns, with a visitor noting the quality matched that of a big city band.

Ethel May Connor, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis, died at home on Four Hundred Street Cent. A brief illness preceded death. Burial was conducted in Virginia.
