Roanoke Rapids Board of Trade Meets to Discuss Territory Expansion

The Roanoke Rapids Board of Trade held a rescheduled meeting in the Mayor's Office to debate extending the town limits toward the Roanoke River. With weather hampering attendance, Dr. W. M. Longe was elected chairman as members considered a possible enabling act and election for the expansion.

Festive Shower Honors Mrs Morton at Freest Church Aid

Mrs CA Wyche hosted a miscellaneous shower for Mrs HLF Morton at her home beyond the city limits. About twenty three Air Society members attended as gifts were opened in a joyful Express wagon procession and a viewing of the list of presents.

Rosemary Library Association Meeting and Governance 1915

The Rosemary Reading Room and Library Association held its annual meeting led by President S Cannon. Rev H Morton spoke on reading value and W Patterson offered suggestions to boost community interest. Board members elected include J B Dobbins L L Cunningham A D Vendleton Ellen Bowen E W Leham T W Mallen M M Baek and J W Matthews. The board will meet next Thursday to elect officers and address association business. A description notes Tillery’s annual cost sale begins January 28 and runs through February 1, urging public participation.

Rosemary Methodist Sunday School Sees Strong Attendance Rise

The Rosemary Methodist Sunday School reports a vigorous start to the year with high attendance and growing interest. Superintendent J J Boyd and assistant Wo O Thompson lead with a capable organist and cornetists in charge of music. The Baraca class reorganized, boosting activity, while plans aim to lift future attendance across multiple departments and a new Sunday School Baseball Team.

Sunday services at 11 am and 7 30 pm with Sunday School at 10 am led by Mr. Whittaker. Rosemary and Roanoke Rapids houses host morning and evening services and Sunday School at 10. A Rosemary Debating Club met to discuss educating the Negro in the South with a pro and con panel. A sale advertises Mrs K Jenkins selling all stock at cost from Jan 15 to Feb 1.
