Wil Lawrence of Halifax County, long associated with the Alcoholic Beverage Control system as a warehouseman, was last week named by the ABC Board to supervise the entire county system. G. H. Johnson, former supervisor and board chairman, was relieved of the duties. Lawrence will assume duties February 1.

A Roanoke Rapids officer recently appointed to the police force was sworn in last night. Nelson, a former OPA enforcement officer and state highway patrolman, now serves on the force. H. G. Weaver, who joined three months ago, resigned and will return to his former job with the state prison department, per Chief J. Davis.

Lancaster Receives Bond Issue Payment for Sewerage Plan
A $202,424.83 check from R S Dickson Co to the Roanoke Rapids Sanitary District funds will finance a $200,000 bond issue approved by voters. Bonds sold at 2 percent cover sewerage and water system improvements with work to start March 1 and immediately after sewerage. Blythe Bros of Charlotte are the contractors.

Second Training Course Meeting Monday Evening
Halifax District Training Chairman Edwin Akers announces a Scouters training course to be held at the Scout Cabin, troop 142, 10th street, Monday evening at 7 30. X Ray Survey Buses Return and Multiple Routes Planned
Halifax County continues the mass X ray program with several buses in operation. One bus moves to Enfield January 16 22 while another shifts between Scotland Neck Spring Hill Tillery and Prison Farm then to Enfield white schools. A third bus serves Moonlight Service Station Crowell Cross Roads McDaniel School Heathville Ringwood Eastman Brinkleyville and will operate Aurelian Springs January 16 17. Roanoke Rapids and Weldon bus returns January 27 28 from 11 am to 8 pm. Remaining schedule covers Enfield Hobgood Littleton and other towns through January 28 before transfer to Wake County.
