The Roanoke Rapids Building and Loan Association directors at their regular meeting retired the first series of stock. Sold in September 1914, it lasted six years and four months, nearly breaking records for maturity. The retirement pays out about $6,500. New directors J. A. Moore and C. F. Howard attended.

Cotton meeting in Halifax County plans direct export to raise prices
The Halifax County branch of the American Cotton Association will meet at Halifax Court House on Tuesday January 18 1921 at 1130 AM to discuss direct exporting of the souths cotton crop. The notes compare prewar exports to 1912 with postwar figures and urge farmers and merchants to attend for a businesslike remedy to the overburdened domestic market and low prices.
