The Halifax County Highway Commission met in Halifax on January 3 1921 with SP Johnston A B Schlichter J T Chase A Paul Kitchin and J R Dickens present. Minutes from December 6 1920 were read and approved. Checks were introduced totaling 97 44 for Weldon streets and Gore incidentals, with some items added to the General Road Fund. A petition from forty five Littleton Township citizens asked for five miles of road from Roper Springs to Cross Roads to be reconstructed. survey ordered and cost estimates to be prepared by Gore for the next meeting. Chase proposed resolutions supporting Gore Superintendent of Highways and continuing the construction and maintenance plan while urging economy. four members voted aye before Schlichter and Johnston departed. Chairman S P Johnston presided over the adjournment with C S Vincent as secretary.
