Minstrel Revue Date Set For Roanoke Rapids April First
The 7th Kiwanis Club Minstrel Revue in Roanoke Rapids is scheduled for Friday night April 1. John B. Rogers Producing Co and director Slim Hutchings lead rehearsals starting March 21 with local actors urged to prepare skits and dance numbers. Proceeds fund a 20 week dental clinic for local children and will support free school lunches for undernourished students.

Midgett Funeral Held for Roanoke Rapids Resident
John M. Midgett aged 77 died Tuesday night at his son’s home. Funeral services were held at 934 Cedar St with Rev. J. L. Willis officiating and interment in Roanoke Rapids Cemetery. Survived by two sons, a third son in Hyde County, three daughters, a sister, and two brothers. He and his sons worked for Rosemary Mfg. Co. in Roanoke Rapids.

Mrs Susie Coleman Dies at 70 in Barley Virginia
Mrs Susie Coleman aged 70 died yesterday at her Barley Virginia home. Funeral services followed at Oak Grove Church with burial in the church cemetery. Survived by her husband P C Coleman two daughters Miss Anna Coleman and Mrs Milton Gorham of Spring Hope and one son Charley Coleman of Baltimore Maryland.

Halifax County man dies after fall from roof at resettlement project
Frederick Gupton 24 of Halifax County died this afternoon after falling from a roof at the West Halifax Resettlement Farm. He was a sheet metal worker for the project and died en route to Roanoke Rapids Hospital after striking his head on a saw bench. His foreman, driving him to seek care, said Gupton fell while on a house roof. Fellow worker P. M. Bragg of Weldon received hospital treatment after slipping from a roof at a building site.

Gang Leader Is Sent To Reformatory In Roanoke Rapids
Three minor Roanoke Rapids boys formed a gang that broke into a mill and a warehouse. One had prior training school, was ordered sent back, the others placed on probation. Police report months of trouble. the same group was briefly jailed a month ago and released after a lecture.

Mrs Pope Struck by Car on Roanoke Avenue
Mrs J W Pope was injured in a Monday morning hit and run near Roanoke Avenue and 3rd Street. She, with bad bruises but likely no broken bones, was taken to the hospital to rest. Driver Roland Coker was arrested then released at the Pope family's request.
