The Halifax County Superior Court jury list for the January term begins Monday January 30. First week jurors span Halifax Enfield Weldon Roanoke Rapids Littleton Faucetts Scotland Neck and Palmyra with names listed. The second week covers Enfield Weldon Roanoke Rapids Dallas Collins Butterwood Roseneath and other towns including Scotland Neck and Palmyra with numerous jurors named.
Miss Myrtle Lee Smith and Mr. T Basil Glover were married last Monday at 6 PM in Weldon M E Church by Rev L D Hayman in a small ceremony. The bride, daughter of Mr and Mrs C L Smith of Rosemary, and the groom, son of Mr and Mrs E B Glover, plan to reside at the bride’s parents’ home in Rosemary after a short honeymoon.
Mrs Bettie Taylor died at her daughter’s home on Hamilton Street last Sunday at 10 20 pm after an eight week illness. A 59 year old resident of Roanoke Rapids for 13 years she was a devoted Methodist. Funeral services were held Tuesday in Lawrenceville Virginia with Rev Gee officiating and burial in the Gholsonville Virginia family graveyard. All Saints Episcopal Church Roanoke Avenue invites the community to attend New Year services. Sunday schedule includes 9:45 Church School led by T. W. Mullen, 11 Holy Communion with sermon, and 7:30 Evening service. Feast of the Epiphany Friday January 6 features 10 A.M. Holy Communion.
Rev T S Crutchfield will lead morning worship with the topic Lions for the Master and evening service titled Returning to God. The public is invited to both services at the Baptist Church next Sunday.

In Memoriam announces the death of Mrs G W Pearson at her Rosemary North Carolina home on December 16 1921. She was eighty three and leaves seven children across Halifax County including Mrs I B Rice Mrs F L Medlin Mrs L F Rook Annie and Florence Pearson E A Pearson and G D Pearson. The family recalls her devotion and care and their belief in eternal reunion in Heaven.

A Ford car owned by Mr. C A Wyche was stolen last Monday night from in front of Dr Job Taylor’s residence. No clues have emerged about the thief or the vehicle. A forty dollar reward had been offered for the car’s return.
