Death Comes Day Before Christmas
Mrs. Susie Harris Borrell died at Halifax County Sanitorium after a yearlong confinement one day before Christmas. Funeral services were held Monday at Williams Funeral Home with Rev. R. L. Topping. burial was in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Survivors include husband J. M. Borrell, four children, two sisters, five brothers, and other relatives.

Edwin Acors Dies After Car Wreck
Edwin W. Acers sixteen died at Roanoke Rapids Hospital after a Friday night truck rollover on Route 34 near seven miles from the town. He was driving with Leslie Cavaness. Cavaness survived with minor injuries. Acers is survived by his parents and five siblings. Funeral services were held at Williams Funeral Home with interment in Kenbridge Virginia.

Meikle’s Christmas Display Ends After Joyful Season
Tavis A. Meikle plans to remove his festive Christmas display this Saturday December 31 after a joyous showing that drew visitors from Maine to Florida and even Chicago. Local attendance pleased him and he will debut a shorter two week display next year. Also notes on births at Roanoke Rapids Hospital, license tag deadlines, and Pete Garner's new contracting work.

New Case Worker Named for Associated Charities
Mrs. E. H. Graves has been hired as case worker for Associated Charities with office hours 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Municipal Building. She will spend remaining time visiting and investigating. The Roanoke Rapids Associated Charities annual meeting is January 9 at 7 30 p.m. in the Municipal Building to elect officers for the coming year. Directors include church and civic club reps, industrial unit employees, and two from the colored Parent- Teachers Association. public turnout encouraged.
