Local Soldier Missing After Pearl Harbor Attack
Private Doyle H. Dobbins from this city served in the Medical Division of the 19th Infantry at Schofield Barracks Honolulu. A 1940 high school graduate, he enlisted July 8 1940 and was sent to Hawaii November 19 1940. Chief Dobbins seeks word on his welfare after the December 7 attack.

The Roanoke Rapids city board schedules a special election for Tuesday January 27 1942 to approve or disapprove two bond proposals. The first seeks up to 16000 for right of way and damages from an underpass project on Seaboard Air Line tracks at Roanoke Avenue Roanoke Junction.
