Scotland Neck to Get NYA Vocation Center
The NYA will establish a mixed vocation and agricultural training center in Scotland Neck, the first of its kind in the state. Plans call for a $113,000 building project on Main Street near the ACL tracks, with 25 year land lease by Halifax County and land use for farm training. The center will initially serve boys ages 16 to 25, later expanding to 300 to 500 students, and aims to train youth for defense plant work and postwar farming skills.
