Tax Suits Dwindle as Halifax Court Disposes Hundreds

Halifax County Superior Court reduced a large docket of tax suits filed last April for failure to list for 1940. Of 986 suits on the two week term docket, 167 were settled, 142 nol pros, 25 with previous judgments upheld, and 27 not pressed with costs refunded. About 700 remain. The term also saw mixed criminal and civil schedules with juries reporting full aid from the grand jury and several jail and county home issues reviewed.
