Father and Son Charged With Crimes
A Negro father Will Brown and his son John Brown are in custody in Halifax County. John is jailed on a break in and entering charge for allegedly entering Helena Garner’s bedroom at 3818 Jackson St. Will is charged with attempting to intimidate a state’s witness after allegedly threatening Garner. The case is slated for the next Superior Sabre term starting Monday.

Roanoke Rapids Teens Drowned In River and Lake
City notices two Roanoke Rapids youths drowned last week. Troy Lee Dixon, 15, son of Mr and Mrs John Dixon of 124 Madison St, disappeared August 1 in the Roanoke River and was recovered Tuesday. Alfred Lee Harp, 18, son of Mr and Mrs Walter E Harp of 53 A Madison St, drowned at Slagle's Lake Emporia Va Wednesday afternoon near 4 o'clock while boating with two companions. Both were to have birthdays soon.
