Taylor and Albert Car vin, Baltimore youths, are held in the City jail tonight awaiting Maryland officers to take them home tomorrow after a failed trip south in a stolen 1927 Chevrolet coupe bearing a Maryland tag. Police found tobacco and oils in the car. Emporia Virginia sheriff traced them as they tried to peddle goods at cut rates.

Fire Breaks Out in Mill Home at 10 A.M.
The city fire department responded to a blaze on Rapids Street at Eleventh Avenue this morning. A two story mill home suffered roof fire damage, but firefighters arrived after the alarm sounded around 10 A.M. and extinguished the flames with little damage.

Hawkins Chapel Woman Dies Of Pneumonia
Mrs. Lillie C. Hawkins wife of Tommy B. Hawkins died April 15 at her Hawkins Chapel area home after a several day illness from pneumonia. Funeral services were held at the home April 16 led by Reverend R L Vickery and burial followed in the family cemetery near Hawkins Chapel. She is survived by her husband two children and a brother T J Carpenter of Roanoke Rapids.
