Capt. Thomas Williams Mason, known as Northampton's Grand Old Man, died yesterday morning at 10 at his home Longview near Garysburg with his family at the bedside.
Captain Mason a noted Northampton county figure and former railroad commissioner dies at his home Longview Garysburg age 83. Funeral at Garysburg M E church this afternoon at 4 30 with Rev Lewis N Taylor officiating. He served in the Confederate Army, was a longtime state lawmaker and trusted UNC trustee. He was highly honored for public service and patriotism.
A formal warning is issued to individuals disturbing Presbyterian Church property. Police oversight is in place and offenders will face due process. The notice references a church event featuring the Ladies Aid Society and a sale at W. G. Lynch's Jewelry Store with a meal of chicken salad cake tea and ice cream.
Historical pageant in Weldon to depict Halifax County history across four periods Indian and Pioneer Revolutionary Civil War Modern. Roanoke Rapids to provide Spirit of the Roanoke chorus soldiers and citizens for the Revolutionary era. Community cooperation and costume planning led by Mrs. J M Jackson requested with reports on available dresses uniforms hats swords guns flags and other items.

Tillett highlights Odd Fellows activities. local residents and visitors attend events, meetings, and auxiliary sessions around mid-April in nearby towns.
The Grammer Grades opened the baseball season Wednesday at Emporia. Emporia rallied to win 9 to 8 after a late surge in the seventh inning. Roanoke Rapids showcased Billy Brown and Willie Vaughan while Clyde Hargrove fanned sixteen in a pitching duel. Briggs of Emporia struck out nine. The next game is set for Wednesday the 20th at 3 45. Public encouragement urged.

The community notes report Mr. Davis Hawkins ill at his home in South Rosemary. Rosemary Butler White and her son from Norfolk, Va., visited, and Mrs. White was called to the bedside. The League of Nations debate at South Rosemary was postponed due to bad weather. Rev. Lance will preach at Smith's Church Sunday at eleven, with Sunday School at ten.
A professional yeggmen blew the Seaboard agent’s safe Wednesday night, cracking the door and taking checks worth over ten thousand dollars though few cash, with about one hundred dollars in the safe. Bloodhounds searched for clues after the explosion, heard by passerby Parker, as the city awaits the new automatic switchboard installation and related wiring projects.
Miss Haddly Lewis spent the week end with Miss Lillian Fra di er. Dr Dallas Zollicoffer will give an address at Garner School Sunday P M at 2 80. Everyone is invited. Mrs T A Cooper of Weldon spent Sunday with her brother in Roanoke Rapids. Miss Katie Collier returned home Friday due to illness. Miss Sue Bert Overstreet spent Sunday at her Enfield home.
Carolina Lodge 2251 C C F held its April 11 1921 session in W O W Hall Rosemary NC. An application was referred to a committee and several members gave talks on the good of the order highlighted by J H Davenport who had been away two years. The April 18 meeting will drill the degree team for the initiatory degree on April 25 with all members urged to attend at 8 PM. Visitors welcome.
James R. Matthews, a longtime guard at the State Farm, died Friday morning of pneumonia. Survived by his devoted wife and four children, he was an uncle of J. T. Garner of Rosemary. Body brought to Garner home, funeral held in the afternoon with Rev. A. G. Carter officiating. Interment in Cedarwood Cemetery.
