Henry Powell Dies After Shooting in Jaiston Township
Henry Powell of the Roanoke Rapids Jays dies from leg and back wounds after a quarrel with Charlie Ben Moody in Jaiston Township. Moody is held on $1,000 bond after being treated for knife wounds and arrested by Constable John Dixon. Powell planned an exhibition with the Durham club on April 7 in Roanoke Rapids.

The North Carolina Symphony selects Miss Marion Perley and harpist Caroline Taylor for the May 17 concert in the High School auditorium. A 17 year old Wadesboro pianist will be soloist at the Roanoke Rapids children's concert. Jaycees Sponsor Dance For High School Chorus Trip

Burglary Charge Looms For Wilbur Carter In Roanoke Rapids
Wilbur Carter, a Roanoke Rapids native, was returned from Norfolk after serving a 90 day sentence for vagrancy and morals charges. He is held on a $500 bond awaiting Superior Court trial April 26 for breaking and entering and grand larceny related to the December 2 Jewel Shop robbery, about $100 in valuables missing. Officers J L Moore and J F Stanley transferred him to Roanoke Rapids authorities.
