Death of Well Known Church Anniversary Rivers Resident at Bradwardine

George Hillis Hutton died just before midnight at 44 years 9 months after long illness. He was a quiet, respected figure in Bradwardine area. Bradwardine Presbyterian Church to hold Anniversary Services October 8 with Rev R H Lowry preaching. A chicken supper and concert Friday evening feature Mrs Smith from Saskatoon. Funeral was at his home and interment at Rapid City Cemetery. Undertaking by J R Thompson.

Rivers Town Council Minutes Read and Sold Blacksmith Shop

The Rivers Town Council met Wednesday evening September 17 with Mayor Sinclair presiding. Minutes from the last meeting were read and confirmed. Resolutions approved include selling the old Blacksmith shop to J. H. Cluff for 25 dollars in cash and by-law No. 190 to establish a highway NW 2321 ac according to plan, read and finally passed with seal attached. meeting adjourned.

Reduction of Platform Wheat Service Charge to 3 Percent

Starting today the service charge on platform wheat cars loaded and consigned to the Manitoba Wheat Pool is cut to 3 percent per bushel. The court order shows consignments to Mani toba Wheat Pool Winnipeg and Fort William Port Arthur, care of Wheat Pool Elevator, Fort William Port Arthur. A further reduction from 3.5 percent to 3 percent follows earlier reductions and refunds of 0.5 cent per bushel on settled platform cars.

Save The Children Fund drives aid for Turkish refugees in Canada

The Save The Children Fund and The Western Grain Campaign of The Save the Children Fund unite across the three Prairie Provinces with Grain Growers Wheat Pool and Farmers' Organizations. Twenty thousand posters issued and grain donations coordinated through elevator managers to fund relief for Turkish refugees in Greece. Donations directed to C. W. Rowley in Winnipeg. churches and women's groups contribute, urging prompt giving to save lives.
