The Provincial Board of Health restricts slaughtering to licensed slaughter houses or specific exemptions. Farmers may slaughter for own use or sale of homeraised animals with a written permit valid December to March. Violators will be prosecuted. Dr. Lyons, local health officer, has permit applications.
A Western town urges residents to stop shifting burdens and participate in communal efforts. Cooperation for shared benefits strengthens the district and benefits individuals, as progress relies on collective action rather than waiting for others to act.
The Rivers Curling Club held its semi annual meeting at Town Hall on Monday. Election of skips and rink selections led to a lineup of named members and a February bonspiel proposal. Local rinks to dissolve and townsfolk may enter by submitting names to the Executive with a $2.00 bonspiel fee.
Ten year old Bee Jim Gilbert fell into a hot well at the shops and died later from scalds. Fire in the Bank of Commerce building was quickly suppressed. Reeve Cousins and Councillor Seater left Tuesday as Daly delegates to the Municipal Convention. A wedding on Wednesday the 16th united Phoebe Anderson Brown to Hugh Wilson of Bradwardine.
The Canadian Order of Foresters dance held last Friday evening drew many attendees from distant towns including Kenney and Waldron Sask. Notable guests included Mrs. T. Elliott and daughter Hazel. Proceeds totaled 96 dollars.
Archdeacon W. H. Thomas of Winnipeg will speak on his Indian missionary work in the West at St. James Church tonight at 8 p.m. The talk is hosted by the Junior Auxiliary and all are welcome.
The Rivers Agricultural Society will hold its annual meeting at the Oddfellows Hall Rivers on Saturday December 4 at 230 pm to hear yearly reports elect officers for the next year and conduct any other business. T Bowman President Fred Bowman Sec Treas.
Town of Rivers announces that starting December 1, parties may pay electric light accounts to the Secretary-Treasurer when the meter is read.
