St James invites the community to its annual sale this Saturday at Towg Hall. Attractions include sewing tables, a fish pond, pies and cakes, a superfluity table, homemade candy, and a tea refreshment break. Proceeds support the organization’s activities.
December 1 marks the opening of the big game season. G.T.P. shops closed for several days. Brandon reports a scarlet fever epidemic reaching Rivers. Nomination posters issued for mayor and councillors in the Incorporated Village of Rivers. J. A. Dyer serves as returning officer. Rivers experiences heavy snow. F. W. Buggey elected W.AL. of Rivers Masonic Lodge at last Friday’s meeting.
A baby boy was born Sunday November 21 to Mr and Mrs Ernest Howard at Wheatland. The Rivers curlers anticipate a busy season with rinks full and strong enthusiasm as secretary Chas W Angel has the draws ready.
Rivers QL No. 1944 and Excelsior Lodge No. 162 hosted a farewell for R. Wo Olive and spouse as they move away. A clock gift was presented by H. Wareham, with a warm address from Molly Higginson and responses from the guests. The event included games and refreshments, drawing a large crowd.
The Friendship Rebekah Lodge No 27 held a Thursday meeting where Sister Gould, a long time officer and worker, received an address and presentation before leaving town for Sioux Lookout Ontario. The message expresses gratitude for her zealous labor and offers a Home Fund Bright as a token of esteem and blessing for her future.
The Ven Archdeacon Tho spoke at St James Junior Auxiliary on Indian Missionary efforts in Rupert's Land Diocese Manitoba. He traced journeys by rail wagon dog-sledge and birch-bark canoe to missions around Lake Winnipegosis and described the charitable support from the Home Mission Fund. The talk followed a Roseville Church lecture the prior evening.
A gathering of all interested in hockey is called for Monday evening at six in the Town Hall. The meeting aims to reorganize the Hockey Club for the coming season.
