Edward StewartBradwardine Leader Dies After Long Illness
Edward Stewart of Bradwardine passed away at the home of Mr and Mrs Graham on Thursday November 29. He leaves wife four sons and five daughters in Manitoba Sask Alberta and British Columbia. Born 1844 in Tecumseh Ontario he married Esther Richardson in 1867 and moved to Manitoba in 1890. Interment was in Tarbolten cemetery with many friends extending sympathy to the family.

Nominations Tuesday drew little interest at the ratepayers meeting with no contests. R. G. Sinclair was elected mayor by acclamation after others withdrew. The Bijou announces a grand skating rink opening on Monday the 17th with season tickets from adults 3 50, children 2 and family 5 0. Single admissions 25 and 15 cents. Skating nights set for Tuesday Thursday and Saturday. Curling starts Monday. A New Year’s Eve Masquerade Dance is planned with costumes ordered through Mr Thompson who offers savings by ordering collectively.

Ratepayers Meet in Town Hall Highlights City Work
Large turnout for the first annual ratepayers meeting called by the Mayor and Council. R G Sinclair chaired. Mayor Forman noted a 30 mill tax reduction over two years and hopes for more. Councillors answered questions as residents pressed issues including potential mayoral bid and school crowding.

Rivers Council Minutes Resolve Tax Relief and Budget items
The Rivers Council met on a Wednesday evening with Mayor Sorman presiding. The minutes from the last meeting were read and approved and new resolutions were adopted including tax relief for M. J. Orth under the Soldiers Taxation Relief Act of 1923 amounting to 11.25 dollars, 15 percent of a pension. The Finance Committee report on Electric Light accounts was adopted with 294.65 dollars to be paid. Repairs to the Finance Committee were approved with 9182.66 dollars in bills paid. A 3 dollar rebate was granted to J. Moore for a faulty electric meter. The council granted 50 dollars to the Children's Aid Society of Winnipeg and 50 dollars to J. Stevenson for services in 1923. The meeting then adjourned.
