Christmas School Concert At St James Hall

A lively St James Christmas tree supper and concert at Odd Fellows Hall drew a crowded, happy crowd of Rivers youngsters. The program, entirely by children, featured humorous acts like the Old Broken Dolls and the Great Arrival, with Santa Claus distributing prizes and gifts to scholars and babies alike.

Bijou Theatre Changes Hands and New Year Festivities

The Bijou Theatre is sold to Wicks of Bredenburg Sask who will take over March 1. Thompson and Heliofs remain to run the theatre until then with a strong lineup of winter attractions. A New Year Eve Masquerade Dance is planned with costumes sourced from a top company to cut costs. The skating rink opened and will be open nightly this week and on Monday Wednesday and Saturday next week. Hockey enthusiasts are invited to meet at the rink on Wednesday January 2.

Farmers to discuss Wheat Pool at Manitoba convention

The United Farmers of Manitoba set for Jan 8 9 and 10 in Winnipeg will focus on a Manitoba wheat pool and a new declaration of principles by the Canadian Council of Agriculture. D G Mckenzie secretary said the meetings will cover cooperative marketing of farm produce including livestock and poultry.
