Harding remembers its past with cairns and a refurnished centre
The hamlet of Harding preserves its history with cairns and plaques including the Harding Community Center once a church built in 1893 and moved to the fairgrounds in 1999. Volunteers led by Bev Bennett and the Bell family restored the building, added insulation, new wiring, plumbing and a wheelchair ramp. The site includes a 24-name war honour roll, and a cairn marking the former Harding School site dedicated in 1981. The Harding Agricultural Hall dates to 1914 and hosts displays, while a 1904 2004 commemorative cairn honours a century of service to agriculture. Harding Fair is set for July 22 with a small volunteer force.
