Alphabet Railway project traces GTP heritage in prairie towns
A four person Canadian team documents the western Canadian Alphabet Railway from Portage la Prairie to Jasper, tracing GTP’s legacy through 1 557 kilometres of track. Photographers Cheryl Hoffmann Marina Reece and Dianne Burdon with coordinator Judy Wiesinger plan fieldwork across Manitoba Saskatchewan and Alberta, drawing on archives and museum input to capture community identity on the 150th Confederation anniversary. The journey runs July 4 to July 27 with reflections on immigration transportation and urban development guiding the project.
