Kimberly-Clark pledge boosts sustainable wood use and tube free TP
Greenpeace pressure pushed Kimberly-Clark to source 40 percent of North American tissue fibre from recycled or FSC certified forests by 2011 and halt non FSC wood fibre from Canada’s boreal forest. The firm introduced Scott Naturals Tube-Free toilet paper to reduce waste, selling initially in Walmart and Sam’s Club in the Northeast with planned national rollout. The boreal forest, largest on the continent, supports over a billion birds and threatened species while storing vast amounts of carbon, though only a small portion is protected.
