Howard Wood helped found the Blackhawk 4 H Club serving Dolton Riverdale and South Holland youths aged 10 to 20. Car Stolen in Riverdale Recovered in Gary Indiana
A car stolen from the Acme Steel parking lot in Riverdale on Wednesday was recovered two days later in Gary Indiana. Riverdale Police say the vehicle belonged to Burnell Smith of 8741 W 168th St Tinley Park.

Michael Sligo aged 52 of 73 East Wath Street Riverdale was pronounced dead by Dr Tomlinson on Sunday September 10. Riverdale Police tried to resuscitate him with oxygen for 35 minutes but he did not regain consciousness.

Holland residents push for action over drive-in litter
South Holland residents along Perry Ave and Riverside Sr near 147th St urged the village board to curb litter from drive-in patrons. Arthur J. O'Brien of the Riverside Community Assn cited cups and napkins on lawns and asked for improved lighting and traffic controls. The board said it would investigate, with lights planned for east and west courts on 61st Pl if easements are obtained. Sidewalks on Riverside Dr and Perry Ave are being repaired and eight trees removed in recent weeks.

Swanson Resigns as Riverdale Village Trustee
John E. Swanson, a Riverdale Village Board trustee and G. S. Steel Corporation metallurgist, submitted his resignation at the Sept 12 meeting. He will transfer to Detroit, commuting home weekends.
