Washington Park Sold to American Turf Association Leaders
A million-dollar deal closed at the Turf Club will place Washington Park race track under Stuyvesant Peabody Col Matt Winn and other Chicago and Kentucky racing officials who lead the American Turf Association a $13 000 000 group. The plan includes full ownership and a spring reopening after $250 000 in improvements. Washington Park president Robert M Sweitzer said the deal will be finalized at tomorrow’s stockholders meeting. The track was among the first to reopen in Chicago’s 1926 revival of racing.

Julius Anders, longtime Dalton resident and prominent furniture dealer, died Saturday September 10 at age 79 4 months and 8 days. He retired from business years ago and was beloved by hundreds. He leaves son Herman two daughters Julia Pauls and Bertha Horn three grandchildren and many friends. Funeral Thursday at 2 30 pm at St Pauls Lutheran Church conducted by Rev Kemnitz. Typhoid Warning From Calumet River Bathing Incident
