Wild hogs used as watchdogs in Mexican ranching
In parts of Mexico wild hogs or jabali are raised with goats or chickens to guard livestock. They can be tamed to follow a master, defend the herd from coyotes, and even patrol a ranch at night. Jabali is a cousin to the European domestic pig, part of the peccary family with sharp tusks and a flexible snout.
