Death of Dalton Resident Henry Vandenberg
Henry Vandenberg of Dalton died at his home on Tuesday October 25 at 6 20 am after years of illness. He served one term on the Board of Trustees and was active in the town. Funeral Friday at 2 pm from his Lincoln avenue home with the Masonic order in charge and Rev W E Cissna officiating. Burial in Berger cemetery beside his parents. Born May 28 1854 in Berger Station he lived in Chicago before settling in Stutzer Grant County Wisconsin. He married Louisa Gebhardt May 21 1877 and had ten children William John Charles Lillian Orrin Ralph Ada Rolland Grace Edward. He leaves his wife two brothers William Emerson Neb and Herman Chicago and four grandchildren.

Fire Fiend Destroys Several Structures In Quiet Riv erdale
Incendiary fires plague Highlawn as firefighters from Highland Hose Co and Calumet Fire Department battle blazes across the town. Starting with a Schmidt farm machinery fire on 138th Street, the assailant torched a chicken house, shed, barn, and later the Homer cottage and Highlawn School Building. Brilliant response by Chief Ripley and volunteers kept damage limited, despite winds and heavy smoke.
