Thornton Township High School celebrated homecoming with a dance in the gymnasium where King Claude Caress and Queen Sharon Boudreau were crowned. The Court of Honor included John Filer, Nancy Dunlap, Claude Proud, Sandra Anders, Mary Low Falica, Tony Quinin, and Eagle Scouts Gary and Robert Newcomer among others. Families and Scouts gathered as badges were shown and the event featured the theme Aqua Magic.

Semi Crash On Rt 6 Ramp In Calumet Expressway
A North American Stone Corp semi and trailer from Detroit went out of control Friday October 7 on Rt 6 entering the Calumet Expressway southbound ramp. Police say the truck skidded about 60 feet on its side. Driver Robert Allan Lewis 24 received minor injuries and was taken to Ingalls Memorial Hospital Harvey.

Ivanhoe Park enrolls 400 for fall winter program
The Ivanhoe Park fieldhouse buzzed as residents enrolled their children for the park’s fall and winter recreation program starting November 4 and 5. Over 400 children are expected to participate, with activities at Ivanhoe and at Washington and Roosevelt school gyms. The program runs through March 1941. Three forgers sentenced in county court
At a Tuesday hearing Judge Lambert of Warvey presided over three youths found guilty of passing bogus checks in Dalton Harvey and Chicago. Leonard Williams 18 of Harvey received 60 days in the county jail and one year supervision. Edward G Hadhary 17 of Wharvey received 60 days in jail and one year supervision. Robert Carl received 30 days in the county jail and one year supervision. Full restitution on the bad checks was ordered.
