Deaths of Gustav Sprick and Walter Diehl in Riverdale

News notes the death of Gustav A. Sprick at 2812 137th Street Riverdale on November 16 after years of diabetes and illness. Funeral service set for November 19 with Masonic rites. he leaves wife Bertha and two daughters Agnes and Mabel. Also reported is the death of 11-year-old Walter Diehl of Highlawn at St. Frances Hospital Blue Island with funeral plans pending, and obituary for widow Hedwig Pitsch at 183826 Calumet Avenue Riverdale with burial at St. Benedict’s Cemetery.

Fatal quarry blast claims two men

A premature blast at the Brownell Improvement Company quarry in Thornton killed John Junke and fatally injured Steven Cobradovitch. Cobradovitch was transported to Chicago by train with a stretcher from LaSalle Street depot to Harrison Street police station. Junke's body was taken to undertaking rooms. Dr. James Egan said Cobradovitch’s condition remained serious as he was moved by ambulance to county hospital.
