Four people were injured Thursday evening when a car carrying them was struck by a B&O diesel train near Ashland Avenue on Cook County Highway Garage Road in Riverdale. Teenagers Injured When Car Hit By Train Near Riverdale
Four Blue Island youths were injured when their car was struck on the left side by an eastbound B and O diesel engine on Cook County Highway Garage Road at Ashland Riverdale. Driver William Heckler 18 of Milwaukee failed to see the train. The car was dragged 31 feet and dumped by an embankment. The diesel with three freight cars traveled 289 feet before stopping. Two girls and a boy, ages 15 to 17, were also injured. They were taken to St Francis Hospital Blue Island.
