Dedicated Service Flag for Riverdale Heroes
The Service Flag presented to Riverdale by President Niemeyer and daughter Viola honors 24 local boys who answered the nation's call. The ceremony at Riverdale Theatre featured the TT H Blee Club and speeches by Prof. Smith, with Miss Niemeyer presenting the flag and Justice A Geich accepting it for families and townspeople. He urged support for Liberty Bonds and food conservation, praising the brave villagers who left homes and futures to serve.

Elks Lodge Hosts House Warming as 22 New Members Initiated
The Harvey Lodge B P O Elks opened its new temple with a house warming last Wednesday. The $50,000 building includes grounds and equipment and the lodge has $70,000 invested. A patriotic meeting with Chaplain Jones speaking is planned for next Wednesday evening May 22, inviting all Elks and friends, especially the ladies.

Riverdale Resident Nicholas Simon Dies in Illinois Central Hospital
Nicholas Simon a long time Riverdale resident died Thursday evening at Illinois Central Hospital from pneumonia after several weeks of illness. He was born in Joliet in 1872 and lived with sister and brother in law Mr and Mrs Conrad Kern. He leaves daughter Marie and many relatives. The funeral will be Monday at St Marys Church with Father Dettmer officiating. interment in St Marys Cemetery. Liberty Bond and Krift Stamps promoted as patriotic investments.

Aviation School Plans Chicago Aeronautical Station
An Aviation School near the Aviation Club of Chicago held a meeting in Isolel Sherman, Chicago, Sunday night. It aims to establish an aeronautical experiment station in Chicago to graduate aviators for U S Army service. Goodall field at Tinley Park, 100 acres, will be used for aviation. The Illinois Aircraft Syndicate supports the project with about 450000 dollars capital. The field will hold eight machines and operate soon.
