Riverdale Police Begin Vehicle Tag Enforcement

Dolton Civilian Defense Unit Seeks Sibley Road Sirens and Training
Dolton Civilian Defense Unit held its monthly meeting at the W F W Hall with director Ed Enright presiding. Gene Gopyerman of Thornridge High School will accept enrollments for a Civilian Defense school in Battle Creek Michigan, ongoing since April 1. Assistant Fire Chief Bob Johnston weighed siren placement with Engineers Division, while Jerry Sullivan designed a communications setup for unified post supervision. Med LaBeau coordinates the system’s rollout. Ed Johnston, Warden, will address it next meet. The Women’s Auxiliary backs the unit. Dr Clyde Griffin and Regional Hospital Director of Hammond Indiana attend. Sixty minutes of Civilian Defense films were shown, including H-Bomb attack and WWII wartime footage. Trench Cave Traps Harvey Man. Dies Of Injuries
Edmund F. Rheeves, 23, of 45 W 148th Harvey, employed by Skyline Plumbing Co., was buried by a water main trench cave in at 144th and Dobson South Holland. He was dug out with an inhalator and taken to Ingalls Hospital where he survived three days with shock.

Dolton police chief Grover Cogswell announces 1960 dog licenses are due and can be picked up at the police station. Dogs in village limits must be licensed with a collar and inoculation tag. noncompliant owners receive a notice and ten days to comply before a warrant may be issued.
